  • Contact the carrier in advance to reserve space and find out their rules.
  • Book a direct flight. Avoid travelling in extreme weather or busy travel times.
  • Make the right arrangements for your pet. If you're planning to keep your pet under the seat they must be small enough to stand up in the carry-on bag. If they're too big, the airline will force you to put them in cargo AND sell you a very overpriced kennel to do so!
  • Make sure the captain and flight attendants know your pet is on board.
  • Make sure your pet gets on and off the plane! If at all possible, insist on watching your pet be loaded in and out of cargo.
