Super 8 JFK - Jamaica

Another good option for those on a budget is the Super 8 in Jamaica, Queens. Not luxury digs, but it's clean and adequate for a short stay. The price is right and most former guests have good things to say about it. There is a complimentary continental breakfast, complimentary wireless internet and a complimentary airport shuttle (available between 5 AM to 11:45 PM). All rooms have cable TV and, unlike many hotels, you can open the windows for a breath of fresh air if you so choose.

Comfort Inn JFK Airport

Visitor reviews overall describe the Comfort Inn at JFK as a "good value for the price". The rooms are small but clean (including the bathrooms) and the beds are comfortable. There is an hourly shuttle to the airport (insider tip: don't show up last-minute or you won't get a seat!). Cons - there is no restaurant in the hotel or within walking distance (and it isn't in a great neighborhood for a walk even if there WAS something close by). Most people end up ordering delivery. Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, the Best Western Jamaica Inn provides basic accomodations at a low average nightly room rate. Complimentary ameneties include a continental breakfast, newspapers and guest parking. Rooms are equipped with high speed internet, a coffeemaker, a microwave, cable tv and a refrigerator. If you don't have a car and are travelling into Manhattan, the Best Western is close to mass transit. Feedback from former guests is very mixed - staying there seems to be either a "love it" or "hate it" experience.

The Best Western at Kennedy Airport offers basic, clean accomodations at a budget price and is perfect for layaway stays. Guest rooms offer complimentary high-speed internet access, coffeemakers and premium cable tv. They also offer a free continental breakfast and free airport shuttle service, though neither get rave reviews from past guests. The staff is helpful and polite.

Howard Johnson Express Inn - JFK

The Howard Johnson Express Inn at JFK is one of those places that brings to mind the old saying "you get what you pay for". The rates are about the lowest around, but recent guests have had a bad word for just about everything about this hotel - from the staff to the state of the rooms. Many expressed safety concerns about the neighborhood.

Howard Johnson Inn - Queens

Only 6 miles from the airport, the Howard Johnson Inn in Queens has far better customer feedback than the Howard Johnson Express at the airport. Not a lot of amenities, but there's a complimentary continental breakfast and internet access, and it has very positive feedback for it's staff and cleanliness. It's located in a good neighborhood with plenty of dining opportunities nearby. There is some noise from passing trains.
